Objective:

The objective of the BA Honors in Islamic Studies program is to present Islam as a code of life based on the revealed knowledge of the Qur'an and Sunnah. The curriculum is designed to enable students to have a comprehensive world view on Islam as an ideal system and its role in the development of human life according to the teachings and practical guidance of the Qur'an and Sunnah. Besides the major area of concentration, there will be some courses from a general interdisciplinary body of knowledge which will prepare the students to adjust to the reality of contemporary world facing multidimensional issues.
Entry requirements:

The entry requirement for the BA Honors in Islamic Studies program is a Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) or any other equivalent level of education.

Admission:

Admission into the BA Honors in Islamic Studies program is on a competitive basis. Candidates are selected for admission on the basis of past academic records, written tests, and/or a viva examination.

Graduation Requirements:

A student will have to complete 120 credit hours (40 courses) out of which 90 credit hours (30 courses) consist of core courses while the remaining 30 credit hours (10 courses) are from a general interdisciplinary body of knowledge. A student must get at least a 'C' grade to pass an individual course.

Workload:

The minimum number of credit hours that a student must take per semester is 12 and the maximum is 18. This may be relaxed only with special permission of the appropriate authority at AUB. This requirement is relaxed in the Distance mode.
