LIBRARY RULES

Asian University of Bangladesh has three Campuses: Uttara Campus, Dhanmondi Campus and Rajshahi Campus, and there are three libraries in those three Campuses. AUB libraries are very up-to-date in the collection of books. Besides a good collection of text-books, it has a good collection of reference books also. AUB has dual mode of education: Campus-based education and Distance education. The library rules and facilities are different for these two modes of education. The students of AUB must follow their respective library rules for the benefit of all library users.

1. Library Membership:

Library Card
a. Upon admission and registration, every student becomes a member of AUB library.
b. Every student will get a Library Card on payment of a library card fee. This card must be presented to use the library facility since this is the proof of his/her membership.
c. If the library card is lost, the student may get another card upon payment of a fee which will be determined by the university authorities form time to time.

Library Rules in the Campus System:

i. Textbook Facility and Rules
a. The University attaches much importance to text-books. Accordingly, it has adopted a unique policy of providing text-books to all campus students for the entire semester. This system is unique in the sense that no other university, in Bangladesh or abroad, provides such a facility to students. In this, every campus student gets a text-book for each course for the whole semester. Text-books should be obtained from the library following the rules to be explained by the library.
b. The students must return their books within tree days after the semester final examinations. Otherwise, they will have to pay a fine of Taka 20/-(twenty) only for each book for every day. They will not be allowed to get the text-books for the following semester until the books issued earlier are returned with fines, if any.
c. If any book is lost, two copies of the same book will have to be replaced. The text-book loan system is a great venture in the field of education which is unique in AUB. The cooperation from all students is needed for the successful continuation of this policy for the greater benefit of the students.

ii. Use of Reference Books
a. Besides text-books, students are allowed to borrow one reference book from the library for 7 days. If any student thinks that the book is necessary for more days, he/she must come to the library before the expiry of the loan period to renew the issuance of the book for another 7 days. The book must be returned after the expiry of the loan period.
b. If any student fails to return books after the loan period, he/she will have to pay Taka 10/- (ten) only for each day as fine for delay in returning the books. This is important to facilitate use of the library books by all the students.
c. The students may. read the reference books in the library by depositing their ID cards.
d. If any student causes damage to a reference book/text book by marking in the book with help of marker pen, or underlines any portion with pencil, or tears out any page or mutilates any portion of the book. the student will be liable to replace the book by a new one.
