Reception of New CSE Faculty Members & Students
The Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) Department organized a reception at CSE Hall Room on 8 April 2010 for faculty members and students who joined the department in Spring 2010. The Chief Guest was Professor Dr. Abulhasan M. Sadeq, Vice-Chancellor of AUB. The Registrar, AKM Salahuddin, was the Special Guest.
There were four new faculty members welcomed at the reception. They were Asma Yasmin, Arafat ur Rahman and Anamul Islam, who joined as lecturers, and Dr. Muhammad Jafar Sadeq, who joined as Associate Professor.
New students were welcomed and given souvenirs by the Vice-Chancellor, who advised them to focus on their studies since bad results in any semester will remain with them throughout their life. He emphasized that they needed to develop themselves morally as well as academically because it is morality that allows a person to use his or her education for the benefit of the nation. He emphasized the need for research, especially on the part of the faculty members, to prevent the stagnation of knowledge and thinking.
The Head of CSE, Md. Akhtaruzzaman, chaired the program. He urged the students to follow the rules of AUB during their studies at the CSE department.
The reception was followed by a cultural program and a film festival. In the film festival, educational movies were shown, as well as documentaries.
